Are you nervous about starting pole fitness? You’re not alone – almost everyone feels a little anxious before their first class. The good news is: pole fitness isn’t scary at all. It’s a sport, it’s empowering, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
In fact, one of the most common things I hear after a first class is:
“OMG, I don’t know why I was so nervous – it’s nothing like I thought it would be!”
My Own Beginner Journey
When I first started pole, I had lots of small goals – little milestones that kept me motivated. I didn’t rush into crazy tricks; instead, I learned to enjoy the foundations. And that’s something I always encourage my students to do too: enjoy the journey.
Pole fitness is a process of building strength, flexibility, and confidence, class by class. The more you break things down, the quicker (and safer) you’ll reach your goals.
Even our instructors – who are now strong, graceful, and elegant – keep growing every day. Teaching has transformed their lines and strength even more, and it’s such a joy to see that progress.
Fun Fact: I Hated Spinny Pole 🙈
Did you know I once said I’d never use spinny pole? (Now it’s one of my favourites!)
And here’s another truth: I was technically a beginner for a couple of months, but it took me over four years to feel fully confident at the intermediate level. Pole isn’t a race – there’s no time limit. You do you. Train at your own pace.
Tips for Beginners
In the video below, I share my top advice for anyone just starting out with pole fitness. You’ll learn:
✨ Why building strength gradually matters
✨ How to set realistic milestones
✨ What to focus on as a beginner to feel confident on the pole
✨ And why falling in love with the foundations will make your journey smoother
I hope it helps you feel excited, empowered, and ready to start your own pole journey.
Remember: you don’t have to be strong, flexible, or fearless to begin. You just need to show up – and we’ll take care of the rest. 💕
