🌸 Meet Sophie

Sophie, 26, trains across our Pontypool, Monmouth, and Blackwood studios.

She first joined epYc in August 2024, returning to pole and yoga after her pregnancy.

“I trained before pregnancy and wanted to return back after healing. The studio felt like the best place for me to do so as everyone was so welcoming and supportive.”

💪 Her Journey with epYc

Starting back after time away can feel daunting — and Sophie remembers feeling exactly that.

“I was nervous. I had lost a lot of strength and felt unsure about my post-pregnancy body. But I was quickly accommodated and the routines I was given were appropriate for myself and my strength at the time.”

That supportive start made all the difference. Since then, Sophie’s been training at least once a week, splitting her time between pole and yoga to rebuild strength, balance, and confidence.

🌸 Favourite Class and Trick

Sophie’s favourite class is pole fitness, where she loves the structured approach and the freedom to progress at her own pace.

“I really enjoy the structured approach to lessons and how you can progress at your own pace.”

Her go-to trick? The butterfly — a move that shows off her strength and control.

“I am comfortable getting into it, and I love how it shows.”

🚀 Biggest Achievements

Returning to pole after pregnancy is no small feat — and Sophie is proud of the strength she’s rebuilt.

“I’m proud of how much strength I have built. I feel much more comfortable in moves that were difficult for me before, and because of that I feel more confident on the pole.”

Her dedication to consistency has helped her regain not only physical power but also confidence in her abilities — both in and out of the studio.

💬 In Her Own Words

“I’ve definitely gained more confidence in myself and a stronger drive to train independently. Having a goal of getting better at pole has helped motivate me to train more consistently in the gym, and to keep to a structured plan.”

She also shared what makes epYc special to her:

“I’ve tried multiple different studios and the epYc environment and community is by far the best. The way the classes are structured works to not just get you into a move but to build you up to the move itself. It’s incredibly well thought out and planned — and it shows in the results.”

🌟 Final Thoughts

To anyone nervous about starting pole or yoga, Sophie’s advice is simple and powerful:

“It’s not easy — but nothing worth doing is ever easy.”

We’re so proud of Sophie’s journey — from rebuilding her strength after pregnancy to becoming a confident, consistent mover again. Her story is a perfect example of what’s possible with patience, structure, and a supportive community behind you.
