Client Spotlight: Lucy

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Lucy, whose pole journey began in March 2023. Since then, she’s built confidence, strength, and a deep love for the sport, and her enthusiasm inspires everyone around her.

🌸 Meet Lucy

Lucy, 26, trains at our Pontypool studio. She first joined epYc after admiring pole dancing online and wanting to give it a go herself.

“I started because it was always a sport I'd admired and wanted to be as impressive as those you'd see online! It was a new hobby that myself and my friend wanted to try out together.”

💪 Her Journey with epYc

Like many beginners, Lucy’s first class was a mix of excitement and nerves.

“I was excited to be starting a new journey, but nervous that I’d be a bit rubbish. Luckily, I joined a beginners’ course, so we were all equally as rubbish together!”

That first step soon turned into a regular part of her week. Lucy now trains once a week but admits she’d love to be in class even more if she could.

“If I had extra disposable income, I’d train a lot more — maybe three or four times a week if I could.”

🌸 Favourite Class and Trick

Lucy’s favourite class is Pole Fitness, where she loves the mix of challenge and reward.

“The sense of achievement and coming home to show my boyfriend the new moves I’ve learnt is enough motivation to outweigh the constant imperfect moves and bruises.”

Her favourite trick? The ballerina — a move she’s determined to perfect.

“I wish I could make that one as perfect as possible — it’s just so, so, so pretty.”

🚀 Biggest Achievements

One of Lucy’s proudest moments is realising how far she’s come since those early classes.

“Going from being a newbie surrounded by clearly talented ladies, to being the one surrounded by newbies who say they can’t wait to have the progression that I’ve had — that’s so encouraging.”

💬 In Her Own Words

“Training at epYc has made me so much more confident — in my personality and in my ability to try new things.”

And when it comes to giving advice to anyone nervous about starting pole, Lucy keeps it real:

“Just do it! You won’t regret it, I promise. And definitely reach out to see if a friend wants to come with you, or get added to the pole Facebook group chat — I’m sure some of the girls will buddy up with you for your first class and make you feel at ease.”

🌟 Final Thoughts

Lucy says her journey wouldn’t be the same without the supportive people around her:

“Thank you to all the lovely ladies who attend the classes and made me feel so welcome — and thank you to Eve and all the lovely instructors for being bad bass bitches and teaching and inspiring so many!”

We’re so proud of Lucy and how far she’s come — from nervous beginner to confident, motivated pole dancer who uplifts everyone around her.
